San Bernardino-based Kelly Space & Technology has partnered with a Japanese company to manufacture and market testing equipment that will be used on automobiles.
The agreement with IMV Corp. is expected to be announced Tuesday at the 2014 Automotive Testing Expo North America in Michigan, according to a report in the San Bernardino County Sun.
Kelly Space, which expects to double its workforce during the next several years as a result of the partnership, is scheduled to receive its first testing unit from IMV Corp. next January, the report stated.
Founded in 1993, Kelly Space is an aerospace and technology company based at San Bernardino International Airport. It operates several testing centers, and its larger mission is to develop technologies for military and commercial ventures in outer space.
Currently, the company is testing elements of NASA’s Space Launch System, reportedly the most powerful rocket ever built. It will be used to launch astronauts and cargo into deep space, according to the report.
