Yaamava Resort & Casino at San Manuel – the former San Manuel Casino – is scheduled to open its long-planned hotel tower December 13.
The 432-room facility will open with a VIP-only event for tribal citizens and special guests, according to a statement posted Monday on the tribe’s website.
Besides a casino, the hotel will feature a a top-floor lounge and a pool deck where visitors can use a personal lounger or one of seven private cabanas. Next spring, a 2,800-seat theatre is scheduled to open at the resort, which tribal officials hope will help make the facility into an entertainment destination.
To mark the opening, the tribe on Dec. 13 will hand out more than $120,000 in prizes, including a grand prize of $18,910. The number 1891 was chosen because that was the year San Manuel Band of Missions Indians was recognized as a sovereign nation by the U.S. government, according to the statement.
