Medina joins Riverside County board

Jose Medina is the newest member of the Riverside County Board of Supervisors.

A former state assemblyman, Medina was sworn in Jan. 7, the board’s first meeting of this year, according to a statement on the county’s website.

Medina represents the first district, which includes Riverside, Perris and the unincorporated communities of Good Hope, Highgrove, March Air Reserve Base, Mead Valley, and Meadowbrook.

For the first time the board has a Latino majority. Supervisor V. Manuel Perez joined the board in 2017, and Supervisor Yxstian Gutierrez joined one year ago.

“This is a defining moment for Riverside County, and I’m eager to collaborate with my colleagues to deliver meaningful results for our communities,” Medina said in the statement. “I’m ready to get to work.”

Also during the meeting, Perez was selected board chair for 2025, and Supervisor Karen Spiegel was named vice chair, according to the statement.
