Moreno Valley offers utility assistance to COVID-19 victims

Moreno Valley has approved a Covid-19 utility assistance program for customers of the city’s electrical utility.

The Utility Assistance program, which includes a COVID-19 discount for those who qualify, is meant to help both residential and small-business customers, according to a statement on the city’s website.

Residential customers can apply for an extended payment period of one year to pay an outstanding balance incurred since March 2020.

Also, if a customer’s income has declined significantly due to the pandemic, he or she may qualify for a discount of up to 30 percent. That discount will be applied retroactively to balances accumulated since March 2020.

Small-business customers can apply for an extended payment period of up to two years.
