San Bernardino County Fire Chief Dan Munsey has received the Patriot Award from the First Responder Network Authority.
Started last year, the Patriot Award recognizes first responders and public safety agencies that use FirstNet technology to enhance community safety, according to a statement on the county’s website.
Munsey, who is chairman of the International Association of Fire Chiefs Technology Council, was honored for his use of broadband technology.
The First Responder Network Authority is part of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration. It is in charge of FirstNet, a nationwide communications network for emergency responders.
