Rep. Ken Calvert, R-Corona, has been named to a special House task force that will study intelligence gathering related to the Iraqi and Syrian conflicts.
Specifically, the committee will study whether that information was manipulated to make both conflicts appear to be more positive than they in fact are, according to a Press-Enterprise report.
Calvert is one of three Republicans chosen to serve on the panel, along with Mike Pompeo of Kansas and Brad Wenstrup of Ohio.
Republicans on the House Armed Services, Intelligence and Appropriations Committee announced the formation of the task force earlier this month.
Senior members of the U.S. Central Command are suspected of doctoring intelligence. Democrats have been asked to serve on the committee, according to the report.
