Kelly J. Fredericks has been selected chief executive officer of Ontario International Airport.
Fredericks, currently the president and chief executive officer of the Rhode Island Airport Corp., is scheduled to begin work at Ontario International Airport Authority in March, according to a report in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.
Fredericks’ selection, which ended a five-month search, was announced Wednesday at a special meeting of the airport authority.
The Federal Aviation Administration must still approve the agreement that will shift ownership of the airport from Los Angeles World Airports, an agency of the city of Los Angeles, to the local authority.
That transfer agreement was reached in August. The federal administration’s approval could happen as early as this summer.
Fredericks, who has more than 30 years experience in the aviation industry, has held his current position with Rhode Island Airport Corp. for close to three years. He will be paid a yearly salary of $398,500 in Ontario.
