ONT nearly back to pre-pandemic passenger levels

ONT adds discount airline

Starting Oct. 10, Avelo Airlines will offer two flights from Ontario International Airport to Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport.

The nonstop flights will be on Thursday and Sunday, according to a statement posted July 31 on Ontario International’s website.

Home to an estimated 425 wineries, Sonoma County is of California’s most popular tourist destinations.

“We are thrilled to add Avelo Airlines to our family of air carriers,” said Atif Elkadi, chief executive officer of the Ontario International Airport Authority, in the statement. “We are confident that the new nonstop service will be a hit with air travelers, and we look forward to building on our relationship with Avelo,”

Based in Houston, Avelo serves more than 50 U.S. cities, according to the company’s website.
