As of June, Ontario International Airport has topped pre-pandemic passenger levels for four consecutive months, according to data released today.
Five hundred and fourteen thousand air travelers passed through the airport last month, nearly eight percent higher than June 2019 and a year-over-year increase of almost 20 percent, the Ontario International Airport Authority announced.
Domestic travelers totaled 496,691 in June, increases of 10 percent and 18 percent compared with June 2019 and 2021.
Ontario International accommodated 2.6 million passengers during the first six months of this year, 2.6 percent higher than the first half of 2019 and 60 percent higher than the first six months of 2021.
“Ontario International’s performance this year shows what full recovery looks like and we couldn’t be happier,” said Alan D. Wapner, airport authority president and Ontario’s Mayor pro tem, in the statement. “With demand for air travel through Ontario International growing month after month, we are ramping up for more air service by opening all of our 27 aircraft terminal gates.”
Nearly 72,000 tons of cargo moved through Ontario International last month, almost identical to the amount of cargo recorded in June 2021 and 14 percent higher than June 2019, the authority reported.
Wow I am so happy to see that our airport is doing great! I would love to see more Europe flights direct such as to Spain and I thought the airline from Norway was going to be flying out with great deals?
