ONT nearly back to pre-pandemic passenger levels

ONT has OK February

Ontario International Airport recorded a slight year-over-year increase in its passenger count in February, according to a recent report.

The airport handled 450,093 air travelers during the second month of the year, a 3.6 percent increase compared with February 2024, the Ontario International Airport Authority reported recently.

That increase was “slight,” but still impressive, because February 2024 was a leap year, with one extra day attached to it, the authority noted.

Domestic passengers totaled 414,286, a 0.2 percent increase, while international volume fell to 35,807, a 1.8 percent decline. Passenger traffic was essentially unchanged – 0.6 percent – during the first two months of this year compared with the same period in 2025.

Ontario International’s busiest airlines in the last month, and their passenger share, were:

  • Southwest Airlines (37.5 percent)
  • American Airlines (16.1 percent)
  • Frontier Airlines (10.7 percent)
  • Delta Air Lines (9.1 percent)
  • United Airlines (8.6 percent)

Air cargo increased by 6.8 percent in February, mostly because of a 276 percent increase in mail shipments, while freight dropped 6.1 percent, according to the authority.
