The Ontario International Airport Authority has donated $32,000 to the USO.
The money raised by the airport’s second annual 5K run and community event will help the nonprofit charity assist military personnel that travel through Ontario International, according to a statement on the airport’s website.
“We are proud to support the USO, its many volunteers and the brave men and women whose dedicated service to our nation provides us with the freedom we cherish,” said Alan D. Wapner, president of the authority’s board of commissioners, in the statement. “The USO plays such an important role in providing comfort and support to military members and their families while they travel.”
The USO opened a facility at Ontario International in 2006. It’s located at the south end of what used to be Terminal One and is open every day of the year, according to the statement.
