ONT nearly back to pre-pandemic passenger levels

ONT receives FAA grant

Ontario International Airport has received a $7 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration that will pay security improvements and terminal upgrades.

The improvements will be critical to managing higher traveler volumes in the coming years, and providing a better overall experience for travelers, according to a statement on the airport’s website.

Security and checkpoint areas in Terminals two and four will be reconfigured, which will allow for more screening lanes. Also, secure exit corridors will be built to help special-needs passengers.

“Ontario International is among the fastest growing airports in the United States,” said Alan D. Wapner, president of the Ontario International Airport Authority board, in the statement.  “It is critical that we continue to improve our terminal facilities to ensure passenger security and comfort while managing greater passenger volumes.”

Ontario International is on pace to accommodate more than seven million passengers this year, according to the statement.
