ONT to add Mexico City flights

Volaris, the discount International airline, will begin non-stop flights from Ontario International to Mexico City this fall.

Reservations and tickets are available now for the service, which is scheduled to begin Nov., 9, according to a statement posted on the airport’s website.

The Mexico-to-Ontario flights will happen on Monday and Thursday, the Ontario-to-Mexico flights on Tuesday and Saturday. Travel time is about two hours, and the planes will have 179 coach seats.

Volaris has been operating nonstop flights between Ontario International and Guadalajara starting in 2014.

“This new service enhances our efforts to develop an attractive aviation gateway and economic engine for the region,” said Mark Thorpe, the airport’s chief executive officer, in the statement. “We are especially pleased that an existing airline partner has chosen Ontario International to expand its business with an important new route.”
