Ontario International passenger count keeps rising

Passenger traffic at Ontario International Airport increased 7.6 percent in September, according to data released today.

Five hundred and fifty-six thousand air travelers passed through the airport last month, nearly 40,000 more than in September 2022, the Ontario International Airport Authority reported.

Domestic passengers increased 3.5 percent, to 520,000, while the international passenger count went up by 36,000 passengers, a year-over-year improvement of 151 percent.

Ontario International put up its biggest numbers year-to-date: the airport accommodated nearly 4.7 million passengers from the start of January through the end of September, an 11.6 percent increase from the first nine months of 2022.

Domestic fliers totaled 4.4 million and international travelers more than 296,000, increases of eight percent and 116 percent compared with the first nine months of last year, the airport authority reported.

Shipments of freight and mail fell 16 percent in September from one year earlier, and 12 percent year-to-date, the authority reported.
