Palm Springs businesses get help regarding evictions

Palm Springs has extended its eviction deadline for commercial tenants to April 28.

Council members voted unanimously at their last meeting to extend the deadline to help businesses that have been hurt by COVID-19, according to a statement on the city’s website.

A business tenant may defer its rent if it can’t pay all or a portion of rent due to COVID-19 related reasons.·

The tenant must notify the landlord within seven days of the rent being due, and it must provide documented proof that COVID-19 is the reason it is not able to pay, if the landlord requests such proof.

Commercial tenants will not be required to pay back deferred rent during this 30-day period, according to the statement. For more information visit www.palmspringsca.gov.
