Palm Springs affordable housing project gets state grant

Palm Springs film festival announces partnership

The Palm Springs International Film Festival has partnered with one of the world’s largest developers of sports and entertainment venues.

Oak View Group, which manages more than 300 facilities worldwide, will help the festival find sponsorships and raise its profile within the movie industry, according to a statement released Nov. 15.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“Oak View Group is here to support both the people and events that are important to the residents of the Coachella Valley,” said Dan Griffis, Oak View’s global partnerships president, in the statement. “It’s clear that the festival is not only important but also has grown solid roots in the greater Palm Springs region for the past three-and-half decades.”

Based in Greenwood Village, Colo., Oak View Group’s properties include the 11,000-seat Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, which hosts concerts and is home to the American Hockey League’s Coachella Firebirds.

The company maintains five offices worldwide and has 11 properties that either opened recently or are under construction, according to the statement.

The 35th annual film festival is scheduled to be held Jan. 4-15.
