Palm Springs to hold state of city

Mayor Lisa Middleton will deliver Palm Springs’s annual State of the City address May 3 at the historic Plaza Theatre.

The event, which will include a community awards ceremony, is scheduled to start at 6 p.m., according to a statement on the city’s website.

The Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce will host the event. Middleton will present a video detailing the city’s accomplishments during the past year, with each council member discussing their district’s achievements.

Also, former council member J.R. Roberts, chairman of the Plaza Theatre Restoration Committee, and council member Geoff Kors, will report on the latest fundraising regarding the restoration.

“After two difficult years struggling with the impacts of COVID-19, we are thrilled to invite our community to this year’s state of the city update to learn about what your leaders are doing.” Middleton said in the statement. “Despite a global pandemic that has challenged municipalities around the world, tourism, business and economic development continue to thrive in Palm Springs, and we have much to celebrate as we move forward.”
