Palm Springs International Airport ended 2021 on solid note.
The airport passed two million passengers for the year in December, according to data released Monday.
Total passenger count for 2021 was 2,092,943, an increase of 67 percent compared to 2020. That number is inflated because of the pandemic, which caused passenger traffic to collapse at airports nationwide in 2020.
Also in December, Palm Springs International attracted 276,527 passenger, the eighth consecutive month the airport set a monthly record for passenger count.
“Palm Springs International’s route growth has created greater access for locals who were asking for more flight options”, said Harry Barret, interim executive director of aviation, in a statement. “It is also revealing opportunities for our region. We are astounded by the record passenger numbers we’ve experienced, and we’re eager to work toward translating those numbers into job opportunities and economic progress.”
