General Motors announced today that it will recall another 2.4 million vehicles in the United States for safety reasons.
The automaker has now recalled approximately 13.6 million vehicles this year, according to an Associated Press report.
The latest recalls include 1.3 million older-model crossovers with defective front seat belts, one million sedans with a weak shift cable and 1,400 Cadillac SUV’s with faulty air bags, according to the report.
No fatalities have been reported because of the defects.
General Motors, which agreed last week to pay $35 million in federal fines for not reporting a defective ignition as soon as it should have, expects to spend about $400 million repairing the latest defects, according to the report.
