Reception, gift drive to help needy Inland children

A Christmas reception and gift drive for underprivileged children is scheduled to be held Dec. 9 in David Dreier Hall in Rancho Cucamonga.

Rep. Pete Aguilar, D-San Bernardino, San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus and Second District Supervisor Janice Rutherford will host the event, which will include a visit from Santa Claus courtesy of SkyPark at Santa’s Village in Lake Arrowhead, according to a statement released by Rutherford’s office.

“We invite everyone to come out enjoy a night of fun and fellowship,” Rutherford said in the statement. “There are thousands of children and youth in our foster care system, and in the community, who need our help to have a joyous Christmas.”

The event is free, but guests are asked to donate two unwrapped gifts. The presents will be distributed by Children’s Fund and several other local agencies.

David Dreier Hall is at Central Park, which is at 11200 Base Line Road. For more information call (909) 387-4833.
