Restaurant gives local charities a boost

A restaurant opening turned out to be a boon for several Inland Empire charities.

The Habit, the Irvine-based hamburger chain, opened its second restaurant in Upland Wednesday and also raised $4,700 for three local non-profits: Foothill Family Shelter ($1,930), Scheu Family YMCA of Upland ($1,940) and Shoes That Fit ($815), according to a company statement.

The Habit Restaurants Inc. held three fundraisers shortly before the restaurant opening, with all of the proceeds donated to those three charities.

The chain has more than 125 restaurants in six states, including 20 locations in Riverside and San Bernardino counties, according to the company’s website.
