Mayor Rusty Bailey is scheduled to deliver Riverside’s 39th annual State of the City address Jan. 28 at the Riverside Convention Center.
The address will be Bailey’s fourth and will focus on the city’s efforts to turn “Opportunity in Action,” according to a statement.
The event will be produced by the city and the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce. It will highlight the city’s major accomplishments during the past year while giving residents and businesses a preview of what to expect during 2016.
Bailey will also announce the winner of the Dr. Carlos E. Cortes Award for Championing Diversity and Inclusivity. The award is being given out for the first time this year. Cortes is a Professor Emeritus of History at UC Riverside and has long promoted diversity and exclusivity during his academic career.
Chamber officials will also present the Riverside Hero Award and announce the winners of the Beautification Awards from the Keep Riverside Clean & Beautiful program.
Guest check-in begins at 4:30 p.m., with the program scheduled to begin one hour later. Reserved seating is available for $50 and general admission seating is free. Tickets can be purchased at riverside-chamber.com.
