The American Heart Association has again recognized the Riverside University Health System-Medical Center for its treatment of stroke and diabetes.
The medical center was recently presented the Get With The Guidelines – Stroke Gold Plus award, which it received “for ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment based on national standards,” according to a statement on Riverside County’s website.
This is the 13th consecutive year RUHS-MC has been given that award. It also received the association’s Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite and Target: Type 2 Diabetes™ awards.
“Our medical center provides exceptional stroke and diabetes care to the people of Riverside County,” said Dr. Alexandra Clark, the medical center’s chief medical officer, in the statement, “We’re proud of our work and are always striving to improve outcomes by implementing new research-backed treatments to speed recovery.”
Stroke is the fourth-highest cause of death and a leading cause of disability in the United States, according to the association.
