San Bernardino’s largest hotel has a new name.
The Hotel San Bernardino is now the DoubleTree by Hilton and has undergone a $10 million renovation that was completed last month, according to the property’s owner, DKN Hotels in Irvine.
Those improvements include “top to bottom” renovations of guest rooms, meeting spaces, and all public areas, making it easier for guests to relax immediately after they walk inside the building at 285 E. Hospitality Lane, according to a statement posted on DKN’s website.
Before DKN bought it, the 251-room hotel next to Interstate 10 was independently owned and did business as the San Bernardino Hilton.
The DoubleTree by Hilton is the one full-service hotel in San Bernardino, and DKN please to be bringing it back to life, said Sandra Thum, DKN’s marketing manager, in a statement.
At least one member of the San Bernardino business community is pleased with the hotel’s new look.
“I dropped in there yesterday and I was very impressed with what I saw,” said Colin Strange, director of business resources for the San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce. “It’s should make them more competitive, and that will be a big asset for the the city.”
Much of the hotel’s food and beverage operations have been moved and consolidated toward the front of the building near the lobby, much to Strange’s approval.
“I think that’s a good way for them to do business,” he said.
