San Bernardino and the Inland Empire Small Business Development Center are providing grants ranging from $10,000 to $35,000 to local small businesses and nonprofits to help them grow.
The Small Business and Non-Profit Training and Grant Program is being paid for with $3 million the city received from the American Rescue Plan Act, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Two million dollars has been set aside for small businesses, $1 million for nonprofits. Funding will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested parties must complete an online application, participate in a development center training program and spend time with a development center consultant.
“The pandemic and other external forces have made it tough for our small businesses and non-profits in recent years,” said Councilman Theodore Sanchez in the statement. “These grants will help our local organizations stabilize, recover, and grow moving forward.”
Small businesses, including home-based businesses, with at the most five hundred full and part-time employees are eligible for a grant. Non-profits with their main office in San Bernardino may be eligible for a grant, providing the office has been operating since at least July 2019.
