Southwest Airlines will begin daily nonstop flights between Ontario International Airport and Honolulu next summer.
Starting June 4, there will be a morning flight from Ontario International and a return evening flight from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, according to a statement on Ontario International’s website.
“We couldn’t be more pleased by the announcement from our longtime partner,” said Alan D. Wapner, president of the Ontario International Airport Authority board, in the statement. “We want all who come to Ontario to feel at home. To our friends at Southwest, mahalo.”
Southwest’s new flights will operate alongside Ontario-to-Honolulu flights provided by Alaska Airlines.
Southwest has been operating at Ontario International for 40 years and is the airport’s largest carrier, having served 36 percent of the airport’s passengers last year, according to the statement.
