Speedway Makes Donation

The Perris Auto Speedway has made its annual $10,000 donation to the city’s Relay for Life program, which raises money to fight cancer.

The donation was made July 4 during the racetrack’s annual Independence Day celebration and fireworks show, with several Perris officials on hand for the presentation, according to a statement on the city’s website.

“Mayor (Daryl) Busch and Councilman (Mark) Yarbrough have been huge supporters of this raceway since we opened 21 years ago,” promoter Don Kazarian told the crowd. “I could not do this without their support.”

During the last 10 years, the speedway has donated $120,000 to Relay for Life. Much of that money was collected by drivers who walked through the stands collecting donations in their helmets, according to the statement.
