State Bros. Charities raises $435,000-plus

Stater Bros. Charities raised more than $435,000 in November and December, money that will pay for nearly four million meals for individuals and families in Southern California.

Customers and employees donated change in coin canisters at checkout stands or added a $5 donation card during checkout, according to a statement.

They also made an online donation by scanning a QR code or sending a text to give.

“These funds come at a critical time as we head into the new year and our neighbors continue to struggle through the pandemic and economic downturn,” said Nancy Negrette, chairman, and president of Stater Bros. Charities, in the statement. “We are extremely grateful for the generosity of our valued customers and employees during these challenging times.

“Their support ensures food gets into the hands who need it most.”

The money will be distributed among several Southern California food banks, including Feeding America Riverside/San Bernardino counties, according to the statement.
