State, local housing market has strong October

The state’s housing market had a solid October, with sales up month-over-month and year-over-year, according to a report.

Sales of existing, single-family homes totaled 282,590 in October on a seasonally adjusted annualized rate, up 1.9 percent from in September, and up 4.1 percent from October 2024, the California Association of Realtors reported.

That was the best month for home sales since February. Annualized sales represent what would be the number of homes sold if the market maintained its October pace the entire year.

The median price of a single-family home statewide last month was $886,960, up 0.4 percent in September and down 0.2 percent year-over-year. Sales during the first 10 months of the year were up 0.8 percent.

In the Inland Empire, sales were up seven percent from September and 6.4 percent from one year earlier. The $599,000 median home price was up 1.4 percent month-over-month and essentially unchanged year-over-year, the association reported.
