For the second year in a row, Stater Bros. Charities will ship care packages to local residents serving in the armed forces overseas.
More than 200 Stater Bros.’ employees will gather May 21 – Armed Forces Day – in the east parking lot of the company’s corporate headquarters to assemble 1,000 care packages for Inland Empire military personnel, according to a statement released Thursday.
The event, which is scheduled to be held from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., is closed to the public.
The care packages will include a variety of items, including coffee, beef jerky, snacks and hygiene items, said Nancy Negrette, executive director of State Bros. Charities.
“Stater Bros. has a rich legacy of service to this great nation and a long-standing commitment to the support of our country’s veterans and service members,” said Jack H. Brown, executive chairman of Stater Bros. Markets and a Navy veteran. “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Armed Forces Day than by preparing care packages from the Heartland for our local military members to let them know we’re thinking of them and praying that they come home safe . . . and come home soon.”
Stater Bros. Charities is conducting the event in partnership with Operation Community Cares in Rancho Cucamonga, which supports U.S. military personnel overseas, according to the statement.
