Stater Bros. Believe Walk will again be virtual

Stater Bros., UFCW agree to a contract

The union that represents 12,000 Stater Bros. employees has reached a tentative agreement with the supermarket chain, avoiding a possible strike.

The three-year contract between the United Food and Commercial Workers Union and the San Bernardino-based grocer guarantees higher wages, better healthcare and staffing and pension fund contribution, according to a statement on the union’s website.

If approved, the contract will affect workers at 172 stores. When union members will vote on the pact was not announced.

The agreement was announced Aug, 6 after more than five months of negotiations and several boycotts.

“This victory wouldn’t have been possible without the power of our collective action,” the statement reads. “We made it clear that we are a strong union family, united in solidarity to fight for the contract we deserve.”

Six UFCW locals represent the Stater Bros. employees, according to the statement.
