Toro Wins Award

The Toro Co. has been awarded a 2016 WaterSense Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Toro, whose irrigation division is based in Riverside, was recognized for its education and conservation programs, according to a statement on the company’s website.

Since 2006, Toro and other WaterSense partners have helped U.S. consumers save an estimated 1.5 trillion gallons of water, more than the amount of water used by all households in California for a year, according to the statement.

Toro makes a variety of irrigation products, including water-efficient sprinklers, that are designed to save water.

More than 1,700 utilities, manufacturers, retailers and builders participate in the EPA’s WaterSense program every year.
