Transit agency honors six drivers

Omnitrans, San Bernardino County’s largest public transit agency, recently honored six coach operators for their outstanding safety records.

Gloria Bell, Laura Bronson, Darnell Frierson, Semira Hussien, James Plascencia, and Juan Sipres all became official members of the Million Mile Club, according to a statement on the agency’s website.

That club recognizes drivers who have logged 25,000 driving hours in 12 years without a preventable accident, the equivalent of traveling to the moon and back twice accident-free.

“Achieving this milestone takes continuous effort and skill to sustain safe driving performance over a lengthy period,” said Shawn Brophy, Omnitrans’ operations director, in the statement. “Operating a transit vehicle over the past 12 years has required dynamic adaptability to technology changes, ever-increasing traffic congestion and multitasking.”
