Wang is SB County’s new public health officer

Dr. Sharon Wang has been named San Bernardino County’s health officer.

Formerly the country’s deputy health officer, Wang will be in charge of public health initiatives, and will oversee the county’s efforts to promote wellness among all residents, according to a statement on the county’s website.

Wang, who took over her new position Nov. 21, is the first woman to serve as the county’s health officer.

Before working for the county, Wang worked at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where she helped establish and maintain the antibiotic registry, according to the statement.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Wang join our team as health officer,” said Supervisor Dawn Rowe in the statement. “Her extensive background in public health and infectious diseases will be invaluable as we continue to address the health needs of our community.”
