Workplace dispute settled

A third-party logistics company and an agency that supplies it with workers have settled a dispute regarding alleged labor law violations.

NFI Industries, which operates warehouse-distribution operations nationwide, and Warestaff are alleged to have retaliated against workers at NFI’s Jurupa Valley operation, according to a report first published in The Press-Enterprise.

The complaint, which was filed last year with the National Labor Relations Board, said the workers suffered retaliation from both entities after bringing up health and safety violations and distributing leaflets about company policies, according to the report.

On Tuesday, Warehouse Workers United, an advocacy group, announced that the dispute had been settled without a hearing. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

In late 2012, the California Division of Occupational Health and Safety issued fines of nearly $57,000 against both companies, citing more than one dozen violations at the Jurupa Valley operation, according to the report.
