George Georgiou, a computer science and engineering professor at Cal State San Bernardino, has been named an American Council on Education Fellow for 2020-21.
Georgiou, who began at Cal State San Bernardino as an assistant professor in 1992, is one of two academics from the California State University system who were named council fellows for the upcoming academic year.
The council’s fellows program helps U.S. colleges and universities prepare faculty, staff, and administrators for senior positions in academia. Since it began in 1965, more than 80 percent of its participants served as chief executive officers, chief academic officers, other cabinet-level positions and deans after they completing their fellowship.
“This is a great honor for Cal State San Bernardino to have Professor Georgiou named an ACE Fellow,” said CSUSB President Tomás D. Morales in the statement. “George has long shown his dedication to developing the best programs and services to help students, including historically underrepresented students.”
