Freer to chair CSU oversight group

Douglas Freer has been appointed chair of the California State University Chief Administrators/Business Officers group.

Currently Cal State San Bernardino’s chief financial officer and vice president for administration and finance, Freer will be in charge of the group that reviews issues that affect the Cal State system, according to a statement on the Cal State San Bernardino website.

“It is always an honor to be asked to take on a leadership role for the CSU system, which has been my home professionally for over 30 years,” Freer said in the statement. “My CABO colleagues are dedicated to student success and efficient operations on their respective campuses.”

CABO is made up of vice presidents and chief financial officers from the 23 CSU campuses. It considers multiple issues, including capital design and construction, investment, human resources, risk management, insurance, and financial reporting.

Freer began his one-year term July 1.
