Allen Carroll, head of Esri’s creative maps team, has won the American Association of Geographers’ 2018 Media Achievement Award.
Carroll and his associates created a series of story map web applications used by the public and private sector.
Those applications pass along information using “interactive online maps and multimedia content,” according to a statement on the company’s website.
“Maps provide a uniquely powerful way to organize and present information,” Carroll said in the statement. “The aim of our story maps apps is to provide people with tools to easily and clearly convey complex issues in a context that everyone is familiar with: location.”
Redlands-based Esri is a global leader in geographic information system – GIS – software, which captures, stores and analyzes all forms of geographic data.
