Moreno Valley skate park to be topic of discussion

Moreno Valley will hold a community meeting Thursday to discuss a planned skate park at Community Park.

The meeting, which will feature three conceptual drawings, is scheduled to be held at 4 p.m. at the Cottonwood Golf Center, 13671 Frederick St., according to a statement on the city’s website.

Construction is scheduled to start in January and be completed next summer. The project will reportedly cost about $500,000.

Moreno Valley last month completed a $2.6 million renovation of the Community Park Soccer Complex, in which all four fields were upgraded with professional-grade turf, according to a statement.

A grand reopening was held earlier this month. The complex at 13380 Frederick St. attracts about 200,000 people a year.

Synthetic turf was first installed there in 2008. The turf upgrades will allow the facility to be used more often, according to the statement.
