July is the peak of the summer travel season, and Ontario International Airport’s passenger count rose accordingly.
The airport accommodated nearly 450,000 passengers in July, a 17 percent year-over-year increase, according to data.
That was the sixth month this year the airport experienced a double-digit increase in passenger volume, the Ontario International Airport Authority announced in its monthly report.
During the first seven months of this year, nearly 2.9 million travelers passed through the gates at Ontario International, an increase of more than 12 percent compared with the same period last year.
Domestic and international passenger traffic grew by 16 percent and 32.2 percent, respectively.
Also during July, Ontario International handled 63,204 tons of freight and mail, an increase of 27.4 percent year-over-year. So far this year, cargo shipments are up 18.5 percent, to 414,844 tons, according to the data.
