Pardee Homes Inland Empire has broken ground on Atwell, a master-planned community in Banning.
The project’s first phase will include 480 residential sites, two retail pads and a K-6 school site, according to a statement.
It’s the first project of its kind in Banning in more than two decades. When completed, Atwell will cover 1,528 acres and have more than 4,400 single-family homes in approximately 40 neighborhoods.
Lots will range from 1,800 to 2,600 square feet, with the first homes expected to be ready for occupancy in May 2020.
Atwell is being developed at the base of the San Bernardino Mountains near the San Jacinto Mountains. It will also have pathways, playgrounds, swimming pools and a 3,500-square-foot recreation center.
“As demand for housing in the Inland Empire remains strong, this is the right [time] to begin phase one of Atwell,” said Mike Taylor, division president of Pardee Homes Inland Empire, in the statement.
