Grocer honors safe drivers

Stater Bros. recently honored its safest drivers at an event at the Riverside Convention Center.

During the company’s 34th annual Driver’s Safety Awards Breakfast, nine of the company’s 275 drivers received a One Million Miles Safe Driving Award, while one driver received a Two Million Miles Safe Driving Award, according to a statement.

Names of drivers were not released.

Drivers must drive for 15 years without an accident or citation to get a one-million-mile award, 30 years to get a two-million-mile award. Recipients are given jackets and caps to commemorate their achievement.

More than 156 current or former Stater Bros.’ drivers have earned  a one-million-mile award, and 25 have earned the two-million-mile award.

Based in San Bernardino, Stater Bros. employs approximately 18,000 people, making the company the largest private employer based in the Inland Empire, according to the statement.
