Riverside is looking for volunteers to serve on the city’s Charter Review Committee.
The 15-member committee is made up registered voters who live in the city, according to a statement on the city’s website.
It reviews the charter every eight years and recommends possible amendments to place before voters if it deems such an action necessary. Ultimately, any proposed changes are approved or rejected by the city council.
“Serving on the Charter Review Committee is one of the highest forms of community service a voter can perform in Riverside,” Mayor Rusty Bailey said in the statement. “We need Riverside [residents] to step forward and provide meaningful input to a document that is so crucial to the operation of our city.”
Deadline to apply is Oct. 31.
Any amendments recommended by the committee will appear on the June 2020 ballot, according to the statement.
