Riverside’s Charter Review committee set meeting dates

A panel of Riverside residents that is considering possible changes to the city’s Charter Review has scheduled four public meetings that will start next month and run through the end of this year

The 15-member Charter Review committee meets every eight years to review the charter, which determines how Riverside is governed, according to a statement on the city’s website.

The meetings, all of of which are scheduled to start at 6 p.m., are scheduled for:

  • May 13 at the Youth Opportunity Center, Bobby Bonds Park, 2060 University Ave.
  • Aug. 12 at the La Sierra Senior Center, 5215 La Sierra Ave., Building A.
  • Nov. 18 at the Orange Terrace Community Center, 20010 Orange Terrace Parkway.
  • Dec. 9 at the Renck Community Center, Hunt Park, 4015 Jackson St.

The Charter Review Committee will work through April 2020 before making any recommendations to the city council. Any proposed changes must be approved by the voters in November 2020.
