Norco College has been awarded a $2.7 million grant that it will use to improve the completion rates of it Hispanic students.
The Project Paces grant, which will be spent during the next five years, comes from Title V of the 1998 Higher Education Act, which helps some colleges and universities improve the higher education of Hispanic students, according to a statement.
Project Paces stands for Pathways to Access, Completion, Equity and Success.
Norco College hopes to increase retention rates by implementing Guided Pathways, which includes choosing a major and degree based on a student’s interests and abilities.
Also, the community college will increase enrollment of low-income students with campus-wide equity programs.
“The grant gives us the opportunity to enhance resources and improve organization structures allowing students to thrive academically,” Interim President Monica Green said in the statement.
Also in the statement, Norco College thanked U.S. Senators Dianne Feinstein, Kamala Harris and Rep. Ken Calvert, R-Corona, for supporting Project Paces.
