Moreno Valley city council member Victoria Baca recently accepted an award on behalf of the city from the Southwest Veterans’ Business Resources Center.
The “Skin In The Game” award is presented to cities that consistently show support for veteran-owned businesses, according to a statement on the city’s website.
“Moreno Valley is proud of the fact that we are a very veteran-friendly city,” said Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez in the statement. “Veterans contribute greatly to the community, including the business community.”
Baca recorded welcoming remarks for the resource center’s ninth annual summit.
“In Moreno Valley, we have deep respect for our military veterans,” said Baca, whose father and grandfather served in World War II and World War I, respectively. “It’s our privilege to be of support to them in any way we can.”
The resource center is based in Fallbrook. It helps veterans and active-duty military members through outreach and education programs, according to the organization’s website.
