The Riverside County board of supervisors will hold three “listening sessions” regarding county services and budget priorities.
Multiple topics will include COVID-19, systemic racism, and social injustice, according to a statement on the county’s website.
“We have heard from the public loud and clear that they seek to have a voice in the county’s budgeting process, including how to further fund social services,” said board chair V. Manuel Perez, in the statement. “We have also heard loud and clear that the public seeks to have a voice in how our county will fight against systemic racism. The listening sessions will allow for an inclusionary process and that is why I wholeheartedly agree.”
The board and UC Riverside’s School of Public Policy will prepare a report identifying and the primary themes and topics brought up during the sessions. The report will help county officials as they shape the county’s budget and services for the next years, according to the statement.
Sessions are scheduled to be held from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sept. 29, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m Oct. 6, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m Oct., 24. All three gatherings will be held at the County Administrative Center, 4080 Lemon St., Riverside.
The sessions will also be live-streamed from the clerk of the board’s Facebook page or RivCo TV livestream.
