Ontario International Airport has opened an enlarged passenger screening checkpoint in Terminal 2.
The changes will improve passenger flow while using the most up-to-date security technology, according to a statement on the airport’s website.
Upgrades include two new security screening lanes, enhanced monitoring systems, new document verification equipment, and upgraded closed-circuit television systems.
Similar changes are expected to be introduced in Terminal 4.
Ontario International officials are calling the upgrades among the more important made to the passenger processing system since ONT returned to local ownership 10 years ago.
“The return of Ontario International Airport to local ownership gave us the opportunity to invest for the future,” said Alan D. Wapner, the Ontario International Airport Authority’s board president, in the statement. “This project reflects that long-term vision.”
