Hatch named Riverside’s temporary city manager

Thomas R. Hatch has been named Riverside’s interim city manager.

The city council unanimously approved Hatch’s appointment July 28, according to a statement on the city’s website.

Hatch was scheduled to begin work July 31 and will serve until a permanent replacement is found.

Hatch replaces Assistant City Manager Edward Enriquez, who stepped in after Mike Futrell resigned July 5.

Hatch has 36 years experience in city government, including serving as Costa Mesa’s assistant city manager and city manager. Most recently, he served as interim city manager in Orange, Santa Fe Springs, Santa Ana, and Placentia.

“Our responsibility was to find someone who could provide immediate stability while also preparing Riverside to attract a permanent city manager,” Councilman Steven Robillard said in the statement, “Tom Hatch has earned a reputation throughout Southern California for strengthening organizations during periods of transition.”

No timeline for naming a permanent city manager has been announced.
