Murrieta has started the second round of its Back-to-Business Grant program, in which the city may loan up to $10,000 to a small business that has been hurt by COVID-19, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Guidelines are the same as they were in round one: businesses must have 15 or fewer employees, not counting its owner, and it must show that it needs financial help because of the pandemic.
Also, more than half of its employees must have incomes at or below 80 percent of the local median, which is now $40,250 for an individual or $57,450 for a family of four.
Funding comes from the federal Community Development Block Grant program, which allows the city to help businesses without dipping into its general fund.
About $250,000 is expected to be distributed in the second round, with the city council deciding who gets assistance. The 15 businesses that received help in the first round are not eligible for help this time, according to the statement.
Back-to-Business Grant is administered on a first-come first serve basis.
